Gong Hei Fat Choi Happy Chinese New Year- From all of us at the Bettina Reid Group
Blog by Bettina Reid | February 20th, 2015
The Lunar New Year is another name for what is known as Chinese New Year and 2015 is the year of the Goat/Sheep. Every year represents a different animal in a cycle of 12 years which make up the Chinese Zodiac. Each animal comprises one the five elements: wood, water, metal, fire and earth.
This year of the goat/sheep is supposed to be the year of the Green wood. Last year was the year of the Horse. The Chinese culture believe each animal and their elements affect what the year will bring to each of us.
I learnt something new this year. I had heard of the red envelopes of money before, where children put the money under their pillow to receive happiness and good fortune. I did not know that only children and unmarried people receive these envelopes and the only ones who share these envelopes with money are married people.
Chinese New Year celebrations will be happening all over the world over the next of the few days.
